THERAPY FAQ’S
Where is your office located? Currently I provide telehealth (virtual) therapy to clients located in DC or MD. I can also provide in person sessions in my office in Columbia Heights, DC, just off the green metro line.
What can I expect from our first session? What comes next? Before the first session, I will offer a free consult to see if we are a good fit and to answer any questions you have. In the intake session (first session) we will discuss what brings you to therapy; your current and past struggles; relevant family, developmental, medical, psychological, and relationship history; and your goals for our work together. We will then continue to meet weekly (unless otherwise indicated) with the aim of furthering your growth and helping you reach your therapeutic goals.
For assessment services, we will have a consult call to determine what brings you in and if we are a good fit. Following that free consult call, I will set up two to three appointmens with you to do the clincial interview, evaluation and screeners, and follow up appointment. All assessment services take place in person in Columbia Heights, DC.
How long do appointments last?
Traditionally, therapy sessions are for 50 minutes unless otherwise agreed upon. I also offer 75 minutes partners or family sessions. A longer session can be useful when dealing with the complexities of couples and families. Psychological assessments for ADHD or ASD often require two sixty. minute sessions, plus follow up session of 45 minutes, depending on your needs.
How often will we meet?
For psychotherapy services, we will meet once a week. I find it’s important to gain some momentum in the beginning by meeting weekly or progress can stall out. Once we’ve established a rhythm and you’ve meet some of your goals for therapy, we can discuss meeting biweekly or as needed.
